A wonderful way to start off 2,023!
Mainly excellent conditions for traveling in snowshoes. Started at Exit 42, headed up the Old Mason Lk. Trail. Branching off (right and up) 100yds passed the switchbacks onto the Winter Ridge route. While the boulder section was filled in, more snow would be preferred, and caution was required.
Strapping in. The route is filling in nicely Breaking out of the trees, and clouds. love this route. the ridge's boulders were nearly filled in (but not quite) working through the boulders big smiles! Rainier appears nice way to begin the new year! Defiance and Banana Ridge. A New Year's Day trip up Bandera.
The wind was light on top, so we enjoyed a quick lunch then headed down to Mason Lk. via the N.E. ridge for the loop.
Fun day!
Cheers, B!
