The Whitechuck continues to evolve. Some of you may remember similar events periodically happening on the old Whitechuck trail. This is mile 4 on FSRD 23 today, already evidently change since the WTA report noted previously.

When you are "miles from nowhere" you must have finally arrived at somewhere.

Thanks for the pic George. It seemed like only a matter of time before that happened at that spot.

That doesn't look like an easy fix.

I wonder if it will ever get fixed in my lifetime. I think the road to Rat Trap Pass has been closed for several years already. Guess the only way to Meadow Mtn and lakes is via Circle Creek road. Hopefully the volunteers are able to keep it open and there's no expensive washout.

It's been open time and again, and closed time and again Several trip reports for the old Meadow Mtn trail head accessed via the White Chuck road. These look like they could be relatively easy re-routes, but "relatively easy" is a relative term; given the process after the 2003 and 2006 washouts, these may be dreamboats - "dreamboats" being a relative term also. hmmm.gif But if there's no funding and no inclination to restore access, then...no. Getting access to Rat Trap Pass was the big push for the White Chuck repair back then because the Boundary Bridge situation was so hopeless, which it isn't any longer. The Bull Bear Trail seems to have been put on hold (but maybe I'm wrong; I lost hope, so haven't been watching it); it was a good incentive for Rat Trap access...Meadow Mtn can be accessed via Circle Peak trail head, so long as that road holds....volunteers can't do it all, in perpetuity. Hoping it all goes well.

We logged out the White Chuck Bench trail in May and June of ‘23, making 4 trips. Three of them had photos taken: https://flic.kr/s/aHBqjADfgD https://flic.kr/s/aHBqjADDgW https://flic.kr/s/aHBqjAFouD
