OK, here is one of the cooler lakes I went to last year (literally!).

Since no one seems to be biting on my previous image, here is another view of the same lake from above. The flattish gray mountain in the back is Hinman.

Pano!(?) Should've recognized the cliffs in your prior image. Did you make it to Purvis? I'll be returning for that one.

Yep, that's it! We only made it to Rock and Panorama, so we'll probably be going back next year for Purvis. We went via the ridge on the east side of Rock Lake - might try the talus route on the west side next time to see if it's faster. It's a really sweet area.

I just realized your picture was from last year... We were there exactly 2 days after you! The snow patches on the background peak look identical smile.gif We took the west side talus, and it wasn't too bad. Quite beautiful once you get past the boulders, there's a sweet little tarn on the way. Do you recommend the east ridge? Here's to returning to a lovely area next year!

I camped there on September 7th this year, beautiful place. I was very surprised when two guys in their seventies showed up around 6:30pm. No way in a million years did I expect to share the place with someone, especially on a weekday. They day tripped to Purvis the next day but I left before I could get a status report on the lake. Talus route was fine, that's the way the older guys went. It took me less than 3 hours from the car and them 6 hours. I was impressed they made it but they said it was probably the last time for them. We were remarking on the lack of smoke but then a few days later Bolt Creek exploded.

Love doing a long day trip to Rock, Panorama, and Purvis. Packed my raft in there last time. Pretty country.

The east ridge was fine, and there is a boot path in many of the lower sections. A few steep brushy climbs, but those are over quickly. The route goes by one or two small ponds, and has good views of Rock Lake. There's a huge steep slab you go by that dumps down toward Rock Lake, and plenty of good views off the steep east slopes. A few class 3 scrambling moves along the way. Pretty fun terrain for the most part. We did go off-route too far east and ended up crossing a sketchy steep slope with hard packed dirt and some loose rock. On the plus side, this put us on a really cool cliff-top outcropping NE of Panorama with awesome views. We ended up backtracking to the proper route around the north side of the knob that is NE of Panorama. I think the talus route is probably faster with easier route-finding, so that's what I'd recommend for most folks. You can also save a bit of time by not dropping all the way down to Rock Lake, which the ridge route requires.

Sketchy sidehilling - this section was off-route - you want to stay north of the knob at left here

One of the scramble sections - not steep, but the wet rock was a bit slick. You can see the ridge route in the background.

Massive slab leading toward Rock Lake - steeper than it looks. Good view of the talus route from here.

Borank, is that slushy thread killer the tarn under Panic Peak with Blue Glacier in the background?

Interesting resemblance. My pic is on the current standard approach to summit Glacier Pk.

Got it, probably something in the White Chuck Moraine then. That was actually my original thought but the length and position of the Glacier made me think of Blue instead. No idea which one because that perspective is throwing me off. On another note, I noticed on Google Earth one of those lakes is now referred to as "Guardian Lake". That hasn't always been the case, has it? https://www.google.com/maps/place/Guardian+Lake/@48.0673204,-121.1239246,15z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x549adf0e014f6959:0xa717a3fab4815ebf
