Any thoughts on quality telescopic rod? I'm familiar with the shortcomings. Looking for something I could extend and collapse quickly, use while in a packraft or kayak drifting downstream

The smallest / lightest one you can find. The easier it fits in my pack, the faster it is get out or put back.

I used this, or a similar Eagle Claw rod and reel, way back in 2000 - 2005 for backpacking to the various lakes in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness. When I got mine the rod and reel came together in a package. It worked well for me. I also packed in a cheap raft to fish these lakes. I was obsessed with it for a few years and then it kinda fell off, mainly because the rafts were beginning to fall apart and I didn't want to spend the big $$$ on a good one. But the fishing was very fun even though I am not a good fisherman at all. Rumi

This is the one I use. Not sure if it's still produced but it's super light and compact. Only extends to 4'6" but I can still cast plenty far with it using 4 pound fireline. Spend your money on a small quality reel.
