Speaking from the horse perspective eek.gif nono.gif Even if a rider is sufficiently insane/stupid to ask their horse to cross a narrow bouncing bridge like that the horse will be smarter than the rider and refuse to do so.

Exactly. It's hard enough to get them across a standard planked culvert. There's no way a horse would want to cross that. Maybe blindfolded--still too much movement though. ~z

So the main reason the one at at a time crossing, was quite a few years ago in NCNP a group of teens were on a suspension bridge and got it rockin and the towers collapsed so we put up signs on all the suspension bridges. Before we put up some bracing on the Carbon suspension bridge alot of the visitors would say how much farther to the swinging bridge. Often you would see people on the bridge as a group trying to get a wave going on it. The tahoma creek bridge is engineered, Carbon eh! Also most years the snow is not a factor with the wind and melting it doesn't hold much snow.
