Yr right. If capitalism were completely unchecked we'ld be way further along the wide, beckoning road to disaster. Capitalism checked and constantly rechecked and occasionally socialized is what we'll have to deal with, and we may as well do so cheerfully. The Club of Rome did their essential bit to help avert the disasters they predicted. Worldwatch is now a thank-God source for unhyped information on those various dismal depletions, diminutions, accumulations, explosions, crashes, extinctions, fizzlings-out -- and on feasible capitalist-friendly solutions.
