Went out with Greg K.
Weather forecast was for overcast on Saturday and rain on Sunday. So I chose a couple of peaks that may be considered "east of the crest" in BC.
Kelly Peak. This leaves from Allison Pass in the Manning Park area. A well traveled peak in the winter. Most people snowshoe, some people bring skis. We were able to walk on the packed trail all the way to the top. From here is where we put on snowshoes on our 3.5mile one way traverse over to Nordheim Peak (Headwaters Peak). I thought the cloud level would have been in the 12,000 foot range. Cloud level was actually in the 6500 foot range. The ridge traverse is avalanche free and would have had great views...but the clouds obscured the heights of the peaks.
8 hours round trip.
