Jarred leads the American league, or is second, in most of the important stats. The number one hitter overall so far this year, no question.
The Mariners are on the up and up, even with their pitching injuries.
In the most recent Mariners Mailbag at The Athletic, my question was featured in the title and quoted and answered first: when will the Mariners move Jarred Kelenic up in the lineup? (I suggested clean up) The answer by Mariners beat writer Corey Brock: no, keep him where he is. 48 hours later Scott Servais moved JK up to third against the Phillies today. He must read The Athletic.
Lately the M’s can’t catch a break. Incredible pitching performances that go for naught. Bring up a kid from Tacoma, he is brilliant, lose 1-0 in 10 innings. Ouch.
Tonight they got just what they needed, a bunch of runs. Next up: the Oakland (for now) A’s.
Mariners win two of three against the Astros, move back to .500, and drop Houston to .500. Next up: division leading Texas Rangers.
The Mariners bats are warming up with the temperatures.
And of course the team’s best hitter is still Jarred Kelenic.
I was at Saturday's game with my 9yo grandson, son and my wife. They are all huge Mariners fans. The 1st inning was kind of exciting with the bases loaded up , but no production. It wasn't looking good for the Ms with no score for them into the 8th inning with 2 out. Then they woke up and scored 7 runs. My grandson went wild watching that inning. The top of the ninth wasn't perfect, but the Ms managed to limit the Astros to 2 runs and won 7-5
