I'm thinking of getting a 2nd bird bath for my yard - to give the tweeters more options and because with all the development around me, yards, trees, and people who think about/care about such things is decreasing drastically.

We have multiple ponds, waterfalls, fountains, bird baths, watering dishes, and misters. Not to mention most of our yard has been replanted to encourage, feed, and house wildlife and us. I guess it could be certified. During the heat wave in June 2021 we decided to camp out in the back yard because the house was too hot. We had multiple visitors, including one button buck and a barred owl whoody hooing right above our camp. My dog was sitting next to me when I took these photos. Everybody was chill. He stroled around well aware we where there. I guess it was to hot to gaf. Photos aren't blurry, I'm standing under the mister. Owl is about 20' directly above van windshield, not that whit ceramic one above the deer.

We've always gotten a lot of stray cats in my neighborhood (either strays or pets, they usually keep their distance so it can be hard to tell). I'll put out a bowl as soon as I'm home!

I have noticed that the more disgusting the water becomes, the more the dogs like it. Unfortunately for them, I'm going to change it today before the skeeters hatch out. Clean bowl in house? Ignored by dog. Algae, scum stagnant bowl outside? Used happily by dog.

I set out water per recommendation. A crow has been using it to wash its food. Every day it's filled with bits of dead animals and other gross things. Keep cleaning it out since now I've set the precedent. A dog would be handy.

I have shallow water dishes in my Seattle yard as well as a water feature and one of them the crows use as a sink, essentially. I don't know if they are washing food or softening it but every day they put stuff in there and it gets so gross. But that's fine. The squirrels use it too, and presumably the bunnies. The juncos, chickadees and crows love to bath in my little waterfall water feature, which makes me really happy. Remember to wash the water dishes once a week with a little vinegar--birds don't like soap--and water, to prevent virus spread.

^ Crows will pick stuff up off the shed roof where I toss it, carry it over to the neighbor's garage and drop it into the rain gutters to soak, and come back later and pick it up. It does get a bit unsightly, but apparently that's the way they like it for their babies. I can't leave water out here - it draws in rats, raccoons, and possums. It's all I can do to keep the deer out. The lady across the street has bowls of water and a birdbath in her front yard - no shortage of water for critters around here.
