Worked hard today, picking up trash and and stuff from the bottom of Lake Washington. Did some nice paddling too. Launched at 1:30, got back at 8 pm. Some of that was pulling the canoe on wheels to/from the lake. I spent at least 4 hours of intense trash hunting. I got covered in mud, slime, branches and twigs, ants, spiders and just plain wet. It was awesome.

Went up one side and down the other on Little Kachess lake today. Found one item: a mylar balloon with string.

Not much for fish action that I saw. But there were lots of minnows in the shallow areas.
I liked the lake, never been there before, but I’ll bet it can get nasty if it’s windy, and I’ll bet it does get windy. I do know that the water levels are drawn down by late summer. And there are lots of barely submerged stumps. Dangerous place to motorboat, the north end anyway.

Ugh, this sucks.
Washington state is trashy, and there's a study to prove it

Washington's Department of Ecology discovered that there were more than 8,100 pieces of litter per mile in 2022, spread along Washington's roads and in public spaces. That's more than the national average of 5,700 pieces reported in a 2020 national study.
6 million pounds picked up the first half of this year. Why are we more littered than the average state??

Throw in the fact that the money allocated for litter program was moved to a different program

Just look around this city alone. Garbage everywhere. So many people don't care about their yards and allow garbage to pile up along the curbs, bus stops are trashed, traffic islands are weedlots with trash in them, Northgate Park & Ride is practically a health hazard of a dump (urine-soaked wet sleeping bags, underwear filled with human dung, pools of barf, half-eaten hamburgers, etc. This is not an exaggeration)., the land on each side of the freeways and center are trash, dead or dying shrubs and burnt trees, the branches full of garbage.
And that's just this city.
Yeah, I believe this article. Unfortunately.

Right.
I'm not about to clean up the entire Northgate Park & Ride; it requires trucks, lots of help, haz mat gear, and Metro payroll.
