It's been fun documenting coyote & wolf interaction & behavior the past few winters. Wolf 1 hour behind the coyote

In your outs and abouts have you seen this version of coyote couture before? It was a double take moment....................

It looks like a cross between a coyote and a domestic dog, perhaps a German Shepard. On a totally separate topic, the photo of the yard looks so typically Western Washington, between the blackberries, the lichens on the fence, the moss on the tree trunk, and the general wetness which characterizes everything. And just seeing that picture, I know what that yard feels like, where nothing is ever completely dry.

I agree 👍 Standard coyote. Over here, I don't think I've ever seen one soak'n wet like that one. Because of that, I think I also would've second guessed. It looks very dark. But yes, just a coyote. Prominent white tip.on the tail is really cool!

You know why the wolf is following the coyote too don't you? If it can catch it the coyote will be dead. Wolves look at other sub species as competition and will try its hardest to kill it including your pet dog.

Yes, that's what caught the eye, in our 20+ years here, we've never seen that color trait. It is also "meatier" over the top of the head/eye than what our locals look like, they have a more chiseled appearance. I suspect this big boy was just passing through. fn1889m wrote:

A view out the back and front door says not - you know what they say in W. WA, if you don't like the microclimate, walk 100 feet..............

In the first video is the wolf tugging at a buried deer carcass? Cougar of course will cover their kill.

Yes. I found a lion cache & put the camera on it. That story is told in another thread https://www.nwhikers.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8036660
