To all, In a letter from the National Parks Conservation Association: We are thrilled to report that your e-mails and phone calls to Congress are making a difference! In response to the outpouring of public concern regarding the decline in ranger positions, unsafe park roads, and decaying historic buildings, a large bipartisan coalition of your senators and representatives stood firm on the message that our national parks need an urgent boost in funding in fiscal year 2006. Thirty-seven senators and 78 House members recently sent letters to their chamber's Interior appropriations subcommittee requesting that the FY 2006 national park operations budget receive an increase of $150 million to ensure that parks can hire enough rangers to protect visitors, lead nature walks, and preserve rare plants and wildlife. TAKE ACTION > > http://www.npca.org/aa.asp?ID=405 When our senators and representatives show their support for parks, we like to make sure they hear our appreciation. Please check the list of cosigners to the park appropriations letters to see if your senators and representative signed them. If they signed on, please send them a quick "thank you" to express your gratitude for their support of the protection of our national parks.
