I like to take a dip in Knob Creek after dinner, or if I'm feeling fancy, maybe get reacquainted with my old friend Basil Hayden.

Patron Silver? I won't touch it unless its Anejo. You gonna do that to your liver, make it good! wink.gif I'd do Knob Creek or Maker's Mark on cold hike for sure.

With freeze dried food: 1. Some kind of squish/stale resistant bread 2. Beer 3. Real Ceasar Salad - I've never brought this myself, but I've hiked a couple times with a group of guys that included a a guy who did this. He'd put the greens in a plastic bag, fill it with air and tie it off to protect the contents. Then, he'd put the plastic bag insied a stuff sack to protect if from punctures. Finally, he packed it carefully in his (large) pack. When we made dinner, he dressed the salad and we had it while we waited for the freeze dried glop to rehydrate. Mmmmmm.

Speaking of booze, I purchased a bottle of Glenlivet 15 for my special trip to the Enchantments this week.

Your sidedish should be something that doesn't require any sort of cooking/boiling so that you can eat it while waiting forthe rest of dinner. (I guess that makes it more of an appetizer.)

Salad is actually pretty easy to do smile.gif If you have a couple people coming, you take a bag of greens from your supermarket..the easiest way is to get one of the kits. If you don't like the kits..snoop around, you can usually buy packets of dressing in many delis or at McDonalds. What I do with the kits: Carry to camp-pack on TOP of course, and keep out of sun. Best to carry in cooler for the drive. In camp: Open bag carefully with knife, take out dressing bag and condiments. Add in everything back and fold over top of bag and shake up well..or use utensil to do this. Then serve to everyone in sandwich bags biggrin.gif No mess, and baggie goes in garbage. All you get dirty is your utensil you eat with wink.gif Yummy!
