Hey everyone, I am working on my newest site, one dedicated to healthier trail cooking. It has a number of recipes for low sodium cooking, vegetarian and vegan cooking, along with a gear and how to section. I will be adding more to it as I have time. http://www.freewebs.com/healthytrailfood/ -Sarah

Lots of folks who didn't before think they could continue backpacking can do so now, thanks to your hard work. That's turning an unfortunate diagnosis into an answer to someone else's prayer. Good for you!

I have had a number of gents email me with requesting that I do a low sodium cook section, so I figured, why not make a whole website wink.gif I had a man from Port Townsend who bought my book (which has some low sodium recipes in it) email me and thank me-because his hiking buddy, who had just been put on severe LS diet, decided he should make all their meals for him lol.gif Poor guy! Now to go add my pathetic low sodium trail hockey puck. Cause nothing says living like 2 corn tortillas with melted Swiss cheese dipped in Trader Joes Mango salsa lol.gif

Hey, Sar, good on you, mate! BTW, the WTA magazine is looking for info on trail cooking, etc, according to the group email they just sent out. Here's a short cut 'n paste: Special issue on BACKCOUNTRY FOOD, May 2006: One of our annual special issues will focus on backcountry food, from gorp to gourmet. We’ll be featuring dehydrated food taste tests, perhaps a member recipe cook-off and articles on tips, recipes etc, guest suggestions from WA state foodies, etc. etc. Start sending ideas, great recipes, etc. You can post your favorite recipes online at http://www.wta.org/~wta/cgi-bin/wtaweb.pl?3+hg+kitchen . Interested in participating in the food issue in some way? Send me an email at andrew@wta.org.
