BPJ: Seriously, all kidding aside, do you build these rigs for fun more than function? I am assuming that you do a lot of the work yourself? Is a "beast" like that more or less functional than a standard Wrangler?
These rigs are so capable you wouldnt believe where they've gone! That said, you dont have to go so crazy like Ive done to make a rig off road capable. There are certain things you MUST have, and unitl this year NO vehicle has ever (except MB unimogs) come from the factory with in this country. Now you can get a Jeep TJ (Wrangler) with locking differentials, 4.0 to 1 low range t-case and strong axles! The Wrangler RUBICON! I'm a BIG TIRE guy. The larger the tire the SMALLER the obsticle. If you are going to have big tires you need strong running gear.

Sorry to dig up an ancient topic, but this one spoke to my heart. BPJ, where do you wheel at? A few more Q's: what gears are in those pumpkins? What axles? That's not the stock engine in it, or is it? Sweet rig! Makes me a little jealous I'm only on 33's .
