They have a lousy line on both sides of the ball. Alexander is overrated and they let the guy go who was protecting him. Oh yeah, and Holmgren is an idiot.

Yeah, those darn Seahawks are as bad as last year's Steelers. Those idiots lost three in a row late in the season to fall to a record of 7-5. What losers they were! Oh, right, I forgot, they turned it around late in the year, made a nice run through the playoffs and did Ok in the end.
The 'Hawks are struggling, fer sure. But it is still almost impossible for them not to make the playoffs. Just one win in two games puts them in, or a Niners loss in either of their two games. And once in the playoffs, anything can happen.
If the Seahawks can get their offense going, the defense will be fine. The only reason the defense collapsed at the end of the Niner's game was that the offense didn't eat up enough of the clock, nor put any points on the board to give the defense some cushion. The defense had to be perfect on every possession, and they were through three quarters (three points allowed at that time). As lousy as the Seahawks look, they really are not that far from being very good. They will likely make the playoffs, will be favored at home in the first round against a wild card team, then would go to Chicago, who is a weak #1 team IMO, and if by some miracle they get through that game, would face either Dallas or New Orleans in the NFC championship game. If the 'Hawks can play well enough down the stretch to make it that far, I think they could hold their own against that opposition. But there will be no Super Bowl victory for the NFC this year, no matter who the team is. The San Diego Chargers are the best team in the league, and their main rivals are in the AFC anyway.

I was at the game on Thursday...I waited in all that traffic during that horrible weather and their performance was the worst that I have ever seen...I am glad that I did not pay for the tickets...

I agree with Slugman, a couple of losses that perhaps should have been manageable wins shouldn't equate to throwing in the towel on the whole season. SF has to beat the Cardinals and then Denver in the Mile High City on New Years Eve just to have a chance at the Seahawks losing 4 straight and missing the NFC West title. And once the playoffs begin everyone is 0-0. To be 8-6 with the injuries to key players they suffered through is commendable. They won some squeakers and now have lost a couple too, that's nothing more than karma averaging out.
My only fear is they will need to put together a decent offensive line in time for the playoffs and this is one area where injuries are still a huge factor. Hasselbeck and the backfield have the skills and talent necessary to do the job but it's no good if he can't be protected long enough for the receivers to run decent routes.
Besides, look at the bright side, Jeramy Stevens caught quite a few spectacular passes in the SF loss last Thursday. That has to count for something!

Just came back from the Chargers/Chiefs game. The Seahawks had better wake up soon. Their elimination is indeed possible.

It's irrelevant whether they manage to slip into the playoffs. Once they are there they will be quickly eliminated. There to "soft" for this years crowd, but Stevens might be eligible for the a "Least Valuable Player Award".
