Looking for some advice on the route from pear around the ridge above Toketie. When rounding the ridge do you drop down to toketie and then climb past Kawkawak? Or do you stay high on the ridge above both before finding a gap in the saddle?
Thanks,
TB

You can stay high on the ridge or drop down to the lakes if you want to visit them. I've done both. Obviously quicker if you stay high.

We traversed around point 6222' at 6000 feet coming from Hurricane in November 2001. If you have enough gumption you can go up a couloir just south of Hurricane and over to Kawkawak thereby avoiding the long traverse. The couloir was filled with snow when we were there and didn't look that bad of an ascent--I would have gone down it for glissading purposes but we traversed over to Boulder, and then over to Huckleberry.

Thanks to the gents in the front row!
Maybe I'll stay high on the trip in, and visit the two lakes on the way out. They look like beautiful lakes. Couple years ago I was above Toketie BURNING in 100 degree heat on that extremely exposed ridgeline, and I didnt have enough water so I went back (yes I failed) to pear and boulder. Is that island treed, or not? I'd guess not!

Gee whiz, guys. No pictures at all. How are us lowlifes supposed to come to appreciate the wonders of the peaks and glaciers (not to mention fishable alpine lakes) if you don't show us?

Don't worry scrooge. That one's on my list for this year. I'll send you an e-postcard . Of course, you can always try to fiind that chopper pilot Brian referred to.
