Amoungst my office there has been a fair bit of talk about the West Nile Virus and it's effects. Naturally, just as Lyme disease had it's own set of mysterious and bizarre tales with it, so does West Nile. To date there have been no confirmed reports of local birds having the virus and the recent case you can read about in the link below:

While it's not here in our area, I figure a lot of us travel and enjoy the outdoors in affected areas. The big trick is know what you're dealing with and not to spread mis-information or hearsay. I lived near Lyme, New Hampshire when it reared it's ugly little head and boy the rumors were rampant!! Every tick out there was stalking the local human population!!
