Dawgs in free fall now. Lost another 5 setter at USC tonight. They've lost 3 of their last 4 matches. Play at UCLA on Sunday, probably will drop another one. Such a promising season is starting to derail a bit.

Dawgs have continued to struggle, have lost to pretty much every good team they've played for the last month or so...until tonight. Just got back from going to my first match of the season. EPIC 5 setter against UO. Rallied from a 2-1 deficit to pull out a 3-2 win. Last two sets went extra points--lots of extra points. Scores were 32-30 and 25-23. Soooooo many match points, so much back and forth, so intense. up.gif up.gif

Huskies hosted 1st and 2nd round of the playoffs this weekend. Fairly easy win Friday night. Gritted out a tough 3-2 win against perenially good Hawaii last night. Now they have to go to Omaha and face Nebraska. This will be at least the 4 time the teams have met in the playoffs since 2005 (the year the Dawgs stomped the Huskers in the National Title game). There's some seriously bad blood between the programs, they last met I believe in 2010 here in Seattle and the match ended literally with the 2 coaches at each other's throats. Hopefully it won't be so dramatic this time around. Certain to be A LOT of red clad Husker fans packing the arena.

Go Dawgs! That was a big win over Hawaii, let's hope they bring their best against the Huskers! Will likely be several thousand if not 10,000+ fans at the game on Friday, a great big bunch of screaming folks all dressed in red. Let's hope their experience against the PAC-12 this year has them prepared, resilient, and confident. Go Dawgs!

Anyone with Comcast cable gets ESPN3 on their computer. Thanks for reminding me that it's about to start.

Didn't get to watch it all, but saw the score. Nebraska rolled 3-0. Too bad. There's always next year. I'm pulling for the rest of the Pac 12 teams that are still standing.

Oregon took out Nebraska today. Dropped the first set, then won 3 in a row. Maybe the Huskies softened them up a little last night?

Too bad for the Dawgs but no way can I pull for the Zeroes from Niketown.

I understand a lot of people around here absolutely detest anything having to do w/ U of O. In volleyball at least I pretty much stick w/ conference solidarity. I'm totally sick of Penn St. winning titles. USC and Stanford both went down w/out putting up much of a fight last night, so the Ducks are the only team west of the Mississippi still standing. I gotta pull for them.

I'm reviving this one. UW won a HUGE match tonight against USC 3-1 to take over first place in the conference at the halfway point. The match was in LA. They rarely win down there. Also beat UCLA earlier. Although the Bruins are down this year, that's still an impressive road sweep at the SoCal schools. Dawgs beat Stanford in Seattle earlier this year. They're looking good right now. Seattle is hosting the Final 4 this season. Would be awesome if UW could make it to the last weekend of the season and have the hometown crowd backing them. up.gif

Beat USC again 3-1 in Seattle tonight. Barring a total collapse, the Dawgs are going to win the conference this year. Haven't done that for a while. Still have a road trip to the Bay Area schools, but at this point they are 6-0 against the California schools. Impressive. Team is looking good. Anything can happen in the playoffs, but it looks like they have a shot at getting to the Final 4 this year.

Regarding winning the conference, the paper this morning said 2005 is the last time UW accomplished that feat. Same year they won the National Championship.

Dawgs got swept at Stanford this week but bounced back to beat Cal. 7-1 against the Cal schools this year! 1 game up on Stanford in the conference with only 2 games left, at home against Wazzou and OSU. SHOULD win both easily.
