For a while, I've been looking for forest gnome's thread titled "Have you ever built a cabin in the woods" to see what peoples views were on cabins built in the woods. I heard a while back that it exists but it seems to have been deleted. FG says he didn't delete it. I made a trip report about a friend living in a cabin that he built in the woods but it got the opposite feedback to what I'd expected. I wish I could have just found that thread.

Yep. I just used the word "cabin" and titles only.
