Started out early, went by the Skykomish RS, really nice lady there. Got to the TH about 9:30ish. Started hiking, there is about a 1/4 mile blue berry bushes to hike through. Then it enters a forest, with rather large trees, very little brush. Climbing steeply for a while, you can hear the creek below and you can always see Townsend Mt. on your right. i believe it to be about 1.5 miles into the lake. About a half a mile from the lake the forest starts to open up into meadows, some places are really soggy. The trail from Stone Lake and i believe Barclay lake enters at the begining of the big meadow. Lots of frogs and a few small fish in the streams. Good views of Townsend and Merchants Peaks. The lake is larger than Barclay. There is a little wooden cabin built on the side of the lake, it was really cute. Kinda makes you wonder if there is any stories it could tell. We hiked around the lake a little and stoped to eat lunch. Then on the way back made a side trip to Stone Lake, and bushwacked around the ridge to get a better look at Mt. Baring. Then we set off for the car, and did a little four wheeling on the way home.
