The wind river brewing company in pinedale Wyoming has awesome food and brews and pretty servers as well. I am not one to typically take photos of my food, but theirs is so appealing to the eyes.

My Mom was just telling me that on a few trip many years ago to Canada that the food in restaurants really sucked and the only decent food they found up there was I-hop. Anyone else find this to be true? This was in western Canada.

For chain restaurants in small towns, maybe. But I usually avoid that type of dining if possible. If you're heading past Hope, I highly recommend a stop at Kibo. And further north near Spences Bridge on Hwy 8 is Monkey in the Garden.

It's impossible to answer that kind of generalized question. With the tourism explosion of the last 20 or so years, things are different in a lot of places, especially if near tourist spots. I had a couple good restaurant meals in Queen Charlotte City in 2010 when we weren't cooking our own; same in Nanaimo. I always found that the main thing that sucked about Canadian food was the prices, including at the grocery store. Even the difference in currency and general cost of living couldn't account for it. And like in Alaska, the more remote you are, the more insane the price.

First I’d say the service in rural B.C. mom and pop places is on average better. The waiters don’t find it their task in life to be to tell you how bad things are. On Hwy 12 I expect to be asked if I want Tots with that from frozen hamburger patty burger. In Port Renfrew I get asparagus with some kind of glaze.

That's a pet peeve of mine, I tried them a few times and they are just dry and tasteless. I have also encountered the nasty, frozen, breaded wings at a couple of eateries...yuk!
