USGS 7.5 Minute Quads for WA State - This site has USGS 7.5 minute quads for the entire state. Click on the section of the state you are interested in, it will link you to a list of maps for that section.
- Files are zipped bitmap photos of the actual USGS quads, and are fairly large. Due to their size, it is handy to have a good image editor to open them, as the buffer size needed is pretty big and some applications man not be able to handle it.
- These may not be as useful for map work on computer due to the profusion of CD based maps out now, but I print them out for use on roadtrips and keep a stack in the car.
- They have large blank borders, so it's handy to crop them closely before printing in "fit to page" mode in order to maximize their printed size. An 11x17 paper size results in usable maps, maybe not good enough for hiking but handy as heck for the 3R's, roving, roadtrips, and reference.

Snow Safety / Avalanche
Avalanche - Decision Making Before and During Backcountry Trips - You may be avalanche aware, but do you make sound decisions before and during backcountry travel? If you are not avalanche aware then get so. More importantly though, make sound decisions about your BC travel. The decisions you make in the planning and traveling stages that involve human factors, such as, lets go a little higher, or this is such great powder - lets get some more turns, are the kinds of decisions that kill. Make more sound decisions and ensure your group acts on them. For all types of backcountry travel: ski, ride, snowshoe, snowmobile, walk, hike, climb, etc.
