Didn't throw rocks at the bees nests, but I used to catch bees and grasshoppers. Grasshoppers by hand, bees in a jar. Everyone else has done this, right? You get a small jam jar, punch holes in the lid so they can breath, put some clover in it and sneak up on bees. We tried to see how many we could catch at a time. I think my record was 11 in one jar, my friends was more like 15. But then of course you have to let them go, and they aren't as happy leaving as when they first got in the jar. If you just take off the lid you risk getting stung so you loosen the lid, and toss the jar up in the air giving it a spin and take off. Usually the bees were a bit dizzy when they left the jar.
