I know what you mean Jill. We were on the original Trail Talk but didn't participate much because we weren't part of the Seattle Mafia. It disheartens me when I see relatively new posters (like the poor fellow who posted the B@thtub L@kes trip report recently) get chased away. Not only has that post been deleted but we have likely lost their contributions going forward. Luckily a few like Sluggo & Tazz have thick skins and have managed to diversify the group.
We were introduced to WTA (before Trail Talk's debut) by a Verlot Forest Service Ranger after we drove all the way down there to hike to Goat Lake only to find the road closed. Trail Talk, and by extension this site transformed hiking from just a part-time summer hobby to a daily ritual. We are forever grateful.

Why did I come here? To get beta on secret lakes, of course. Once I cracked the Reverse button code, I and my cohorts (er, I mean cohortesses) now have a wealth of places to hike.
