I heard it was closed at Greenwater. Road flooded in Greenwater, turnaround is at Mud Mtn. ?? That was on the WDOT website. Wow. We had a small mudslide behind our house - construction folks raised the development they're building back there 6 feet higher than our yard, then dumped another 4 feet or so of dirt on top of that compacted stuff. No retaining wall, and now it's sliding... right towards our fence. I say bring it on. Knock down the fence. Maybe I'll get new free landscaping out of the developers. smile.gif

I remember when half the town of Greenwater floated away, back in the 70's. I think it was 1977.

WSDOT crews have been battling the water non-stop since early this morning setting up traffic control for detours, clearing culverts, and keeping drains clear of leaves and debris. Crews continue to monitor state highways as water levels rise. There was a washout in about the same area 2 years ago. Places had 2’ of new dirt and rock on the ground. It was put there by the White river overflowing its banks. Due to that flood, the DOT closed the entrance to the park at 410 until the following spring. The good news was that once the damage was fixed, which was only about a week later, the 410 hiway road made for a marvelous bike path until it re-opened many months later. The bad news was that the roadway damage was declared at the time to put that entrance to the park at risk due to lack of funds to provide a long term solution. It will be interesting to see if the DOT comes closer to a long term solution for the recurrent flooding problem. BTW, as of this writing, Crystal reported 2.88" of rain in the last 24 hours. Whew!
