Bruckner 5 is cool. I have Berlin with Barenboim. When I first heard it on the radio I was fooled into thinking it was Mahler. None of my orchestras ever program Bruckner but that's ok, the flute parts are lame.

I heard the Cleveland Orchestra do it live at Carnegie Hall a couple months ago. I went home in a state of euphoria. I still haven't recovered.

Excellent taste.
My current playlist usually starts with
- Blue Foundation (Sweep of Days) <-- Especially recommended to fans of Massive Attack and Flunk
- Trespassers William (Having)
- Banco de Gaia (Farewell Ferengistan)
- Lo Step (Because We Can)
- Sissy (All Under)

Never listen to Musical Theatre, it will mess with your head in bad ways. Having done a show tonight, I'm listening to music loud that will cleanse my head.

Oddly, I was listening to a karaoke cd on the way back from work today. What was on it?
No No Song, Ringo Starr
Steal My Kisses, Ben Harper
Lowdown, Boz Scaggs
Spanish Eyes, Al Martino
Tulsa Time, Can't Remember
Sentimental Lady, Bob Welch
Santa Claus Is Coming to Town, Bruce Springstein
and some other songs
Touron is a nougat of Arabic origin made with almonds and honey or sugar, without which it would just not be Christmas in Spain.

Do what live....?
If they played music live, you're a lucky bastard; Cleveland has a world class orchestra, as you well know. |
Check back, I was replying to the previous post. I didn't "quote" the previous post because then Tom would have flown to New York and chopped off my balls. It was Bruckner's 5th Symphony.
They are a tremendous orchestra, and I have heard them live many times. My mom is from cleveland and we used to visit my grandma every summer when I was a kid and we'd see them at their summer festival home. Plus I've seen them a few times in Cleveland at Severance and a bunch of times in New York at Carnegie.
Those Dvorak recordings are excellent. Lots of other great recordings too with Szell and Maazel.

To bring a little diversity into their lives we made our girls watch Singing in the Rain instead of White Christmas. (You do what you gotta do when you've got two kids in a cold house with barely enough power to turn on the TV. Yeah, I know. Bad parents. thpth)
Instead of the Sisters song now I have the Moses song.

Is "world class" so much worse than "world renowned"?
