Here is what my right ankle looks like now as a result of my climbing accident and after the two surgeries: Right Foot Incision Ankle Comparison

Ouch, looks kinda ugly- too bad. What kind of mobility can you expect when fully healed? At least you have normal-looking forefeet and toes- I get grief about my Morton's Foot, a condition where the big toe is shorter than the toe next to it and that damn long toe (it's as long as a finger!) keeps getting scrunched and stubbed. Plus I've got pretty hairy toe knuckles-I must be some kind of missing link freak eek.gif ...

hmmmm...that could be- never thought about that. I do have rather pointy ears and some kind of a hankering for this darn ring...

I am 95% healed. Mobility is will be about 85% back to normal on the right and probably 95% of overall mobility on the left. Although I am having more problems with my ligaments on the left ankle than what has occurred on the right ankle.

Is it going to stay swollen/puffed up like that or is it going to come down some more? Glad it's better. You be one lucky dude, dude. NN up.gif

It's pretty safe to say that if we take all of man kinds accumulated knowledge, we still don't know everything. So, I hope you understand why I don't believe you know everything. But then again, maybe you do.

Glad you're getting most of your mobility back, it must feel good. You're going to have a hell of a time getting your boots to fit properly!

The bones may be healed up, but you really won't be completely healed for a year or so. Don't believe your doctor on this, believe me, because you know I know what I am talking about. I tried to ski about 8 months after my accident, and lemmetellya, I was so not healed up yet.

Allison is right. When I say 95%, I mean 95% for normal use in every day activities, like walking, going up and downstairs. I still feel something everyday, albeit it gets less every week. Hiking and climbing put more pressure at varying angles and I could not give a percentage for that. As far as boots go, I found a boot that I have been really happy with so far by breaking them in at home doing gardening work. They are the Asolo MTF 700. They weren't sold in the US so I had to order them from Canada.....and they do not rub my ankle the wrong way......
