Does anybody have a picture of Lower Granite Lake (4679’) looking east toward peak 6559’? Or a picture of lake 5564’?

Art is an adventure.

Which Granite Lake are you referring to? 1. Granite Lakes by Thompson Lake 2. Granite Lakes up by Marblemount 3. Granite Lakes above Oso/Deer Creek drainage 4. Granite Lakes by Tuck & Robin 5. etc.

Just to make sure, I am specifically speaking of the lake that Tom posted. I am particularly interested in climbing peak 6559' east of there and would like to see photographs of the rock wall and if it is bypassable above lake 5564'. Thanks!

Climbers don't take fishin' poles! They weigh too much! Besides, we like nature left untouched and unfondled :0 Fishermen like slimy oblong thingies.

Some climbers take fishing rods along: I know several who do (ones with many top 100 Washington ascents). A 4-5 piece pack rod and an ultra light-weight reel to include a few lurers doesn't weigh anything at all and fits rather nicely in a Lowe Alpine 40 climbing pack.

Stefan, I know several guys who have been all over that country, I have not been though always wanted to but somehow never got in there. However the most recent was Brain Curtis and Sandy McKean last summer stocking fish in a few smaller lakes up there. You would do wise to check perhpas with Brian, but he is currently unavailable due to some business that needed to be attended to. So check back with hime perhaps by the weekend.

I know several hikers that have been to many of Washingtons 100 lowest hikes that hike with ice axes. dizzy.gif The weight is nothing compared to the status is affords them on the way to Big 4 Ice Caves.

I was indeed unavailable. The business that McPilchuck alluded to was three days of skiing in perfect weather at Schweitzer. As to peak 6559, I walked all the way around that last summer. I'll see if I have any pics that might be helpful to you.

Not that it's your business, but I admit to owning a rather large ax, but that's one of the reasons that I hike, and it is mainly due to the Big 4, that is breakfast, lunch, lunch, and dinner. Andy yes, it does give me greater status on the trail.
