I went, not too bad this year, nothing too special either. Finally got me one of them there fancy Marmot Arroyo bags I've wanted for approximately 1,000 years. Anyone make any good scores?

Heh, I didn't even know about it. Were the crowds as bad as usual? That alone is enough to keep me away. I can't believe people camp overnight on the sidewalk just to buy gear.

No more sleeping on the sidewalk. You pay a buck, and draw a numbered ticket, much better than the old way having done both....

Allison, shopping at your favorite store eh? How much did you snag the Arroyo for?

Uh, I had to, uh, do research for an article about Bargain Gear Shopping, and maybe I did a little shopping while I was there. The Arroyo ran me $112 with the tags still on it, and I picked up a pair of Merrell Grand Traverses (ret. $200) for $36. Looks like they were worn one time. Perfect fit for my feet. I hate REI, but I still love the Garage Sale. I need to get another job to support my gear habit.

I didn't go. I chose to go snowshoeing instead of shopping!

I made the mistake of showing up on Sunday. The gear consisted mainly of broken trekking poles and acres of ski boots. I found a nice little cover for my GPS unit but decided I was better off going inside to pay full price for it so I didn't have to wait in that line. Maybe next year...
