A friend and I made a dayclimb up Eldorado today. The crossing of the Cascade River was the most difficult part of the climb. We brought rope and harnesses but didn't need them to summit. We brought crampons but only used them to cross the creek on a slippery log. Quite a bit of elevation gain on this one with almost 7,000' as you have to loose some precious altitude only to regain it. The climbers path to the high-country is a great route with only a few blowdown areas.
