I think I get the drift = info or whatever that might not be polished... But I've never heard it used in this way outside of this forum. Just wondering if its solely a NWHiker, Seattle, ? thing.
Originally, it meant getting information on the moves required for a particular climb -- derived from literally viewing a Betamax video of the moves.
It is a cool sounding term that makes you sound cool when you use it, so of course it has been generalized to mean any type of climbing or scrambling information and even just information in general, of any type.
