That is a dye they put in the water to map the waters travels.
That is a really cool website. It would be fun to to be a glaciologist (sp?) or even to be on a crew to take data for the glacier guys.
Cavers also use that dye, it's called flouroscene or something. It's cool stuff. Non toxic, it's an orange powder that becomes brilliant green in the water.
I wrote to the guy who used to run the project for the N Casc glacier offering my services, he said they are deluged with climatology and glacialogy students who want to be grunts, so you'd have to have some creds to get on the project, I think.
