I just stumbled accross thermocouple and thermoelectric generator technology. It's cool! Imagine running your headlamp or recharging batteries for your headlamp, GPS or cell phone as you hike. http://www.howstuffworks.com/question136.htm http://www.newsfactor.com/perl/story/13874.html http://www.adsx.com/images/Generator1.html I started thinking about this because a poster over at www.thru-hiker.com made a neat little (small and lightweight) solar recharger for long hikes. I started wondering if you could use waste heat from cooking or even body heat to recharge batteries, which led to a "google break." wink.gif
