I just stumbled accross thermocouple and thermoelectric generator technology. It's cool! Imagine running your headlamp or recharging batteries for your headlamp, GPS or cell phone as you hike.

I started thinking about this because a poster over at www.thru-hiker.com made a neat little (small and lightweight) solar recharger for long hikes. I started wondering if you could use waste heat from cooking or even body heat to recharge batteries, which led to a "google break."
