Anyone know where to buy them locally?
I hate paying all that shipping on stuff I can get in town. These really are the greatest dried refritos, they are not exaggerating. up.gif

Looks as though your local Walmart might carry them according to http://www.energyinc.info/ . Are they good enough for a special trip?

On Mexicali's website, they say they are carried at most WMs. I may have to get them there or mail-order.

I saw it on their website too, but am still hoping someone has seen them at a non-WM store where I could buy them.

Try Fred M. I have some but I forgot where I got them and I think they might be a couple years old. So, I've deduced that I got them at Freddy's because I used to mostly shop there. How do they taste? Any good? I put them in the emergency food stash and haven't tried them.

What's especially fun about sock puppets is that you can make each one unique and individual, so that they each have special characters. And they don't have to be human––animals and aliens are great possibilities

I would try a Fiesta foods grocery store.

I would try a Wal-Mart. wink.gif

If these are like other instant refried beans, you add boiling water to them till it's the consistency you like, roll them up in tortillas with cheese and Taco Bell hot sause, and have a burrito for dinner. They're an awesome, easy backpacking meal.

While the ones that ML mentions are top notch, as a good backup, Taste Of Adventure's and Fantastic Food's instant pinto and black refried beans are very tasty in burritos. I like mine with rice, dried onions and salsa!

They are good enough to me to not be a "backup" at all. chow.gif Even better witrh cumin, cayenne, and black pepper added. Still hoping for a non-WM sighting of these, it's time to get my bp pantry fired up for the summer.
