My most memorable meal of the last couple seasons was just last week. After consuming the entire longest day of the year getting up and down Forbidden, we had to spend an extra night at camp. Greg had an extra package of Mountain House Beef Stew, which tasted mighty good at 11:15pm when we got back to camp and he shared it with me. My most memorable meal ever was on the fourth night of a three-night traverse of Backbone Ridge, after losing a day trapped in the rain on the side of The Bat. Billie shared half a package of Ramen noodels with me, and they tasted really really good. Hmm, maybe I need to bring more emergency food on trips.

This weekend, we backpacked up the Ingalls Creek trail. As a surprise to my (large) group, I brought in a 3 liter box of nasty merlot. PoH then made a soy-ginger tuna steak (from a foil packet) with a boxed wine reduction sauce. It was amazingly good. Good enough that next, time, I will likely bring in a 1-cup sealed jar of wine, so I can recreat this culinary feat. --Gray
