My niece is hiking the PCT this year. Last night she was camped on the ridgeline near Mt Ashland and reported strong winds and smoke smell all night. Got up at first light and hiked out the 17 miles to Hwy 5 to hitch up to Ashland. She reported that all the PCT hikers are getting evacuated to Ashland. Even a hiker friend who was still down in Shasta got evacuated to Ashland. All the lodgings are booked solid. There is a mandatory evacuation order for a huge area of land.
