Spaghetti Sandwiches are a popular item around here. I usually make "Not Quite Good For You Cookies" and take them along hiking. In fact, I distributed said cookies around today. I declared it to be "Make a Logger Fat Day." Must make more for tomorrow. Mmmmmm quality control is tasty. tongue.gif

What's especially fun about sock puppets is that you can make each one unique and individual, so that they each have special characters. And they don't have to be human––animals and aliens are great possibilities

What is the recipe for "Not Quite Good For You Cookies"?

Touron is a nougat of Arabic origin made with almonds and honey or sugar, without which it would just not be Christmas in Spain.

God bless Wikipedia. P and J is miserable on the trail. As I am always in a rush, I like to just grab a quick sandwich (or two, depending on the time on the trail) at Safeway and hit the trail.

...wait...are we just going to hang here or go hiking?

For dayhikes, I almost always stop by the QFC, Metropolitan Market or elsewhere for last minute things. While there, I have the deli make me a nice double-meat, double-cheese sammich. Many times it's dark rye with pastrami, pickles, and horseraddish. To this I add a bag of chips, Maui Onion, Salt and Cracked Black Pepper, and Spicy Thai being the favorites. Finally, a bag of little bonbel cheeses, and a big bottle of Vitamin Water. If I'm feeling hungry, a sleeve of crackers and a tin of teriyaki smoked oysters and/or some braunsweiger. --Gray

I forget to eat when I'm hiking. No, seriously. And I probably don't carry enough food with me either. No, I don't get ill, I just get more involved with hiking than I do food. Friends are always trying to feed me during a hike. After the hike is another story, then my thoughts turn away from trails and more toward food. Every notice how on group outings that the closer you get to the trailhead the more often "food" comes up? What I do take is pretty easy - some cheese, GU, (fruit to eat in the car before the hike), a few pieces of candy, energy bar, occasionally a piece of cold chicken. What I used to eat when I was fat and forty was chicken liver sandwiches smeared with mustard and mayo, frosted animal cookies, stuff like that. I was always eating then and it showed. Karen There are also little tubs of pink salmon that you can buy that are perfect for a quick lunch - and the salmon is good for you too, not as messy as sardines. A little tub of that salmon is a quick and easy lunch for me.

Eating pine trees exacerbated the condition.

1. Wasa bread or Kaiser roll with butter, smoked turkey, Jarlsberg cheese and tomato. 2. Hard-boiled egg. 3. Fresh or dried apples (or any other fruit for that matter, even better when you can pick some berries while hiking). 4. Brownies or chocolate for dessert.

I almost always carry a stove with me. I love nothing more than a hot lunch and a long break in cold months smile.gif I usually take 1/2 portions of dinners with me to make or soups.
