The Elkhorn Ranger Station and Emergency Shelter got new shake roofs in July. It rained the morning of these photos and the carpenters told us the inside of the cabin got a surprise bonus cleaning. And I'm sad to report that Mr. & Mrs. Truman Drum's iconic two-seater outhouse near their cabin site and the Lost River bridge is returning to the earth.

I believe that is me in the back corner there making some ridgecap for the cabin. Always great to see folks enthusiastic about our work back there!

Hey all! If anyone is interested in a copy of my thesis on the shelters at Olympic, send me a message with your email to share it via drive. It is a large document and I haven't found a place to house it online yet. Second, I'm looking for any photos (preferably historic photos pre-1960, but any will do) of Anderson Pass Shelter. Much appreciated! We just finished roof work up at Elkhorn Ranger district.

Hi all and Happy 2024! I finally got a chance to upload my thesis on the ONP shelters to an online database so it can be easily accessed. Please used link below. Scroll down past the abstract to "Download: View / Open Wisernig_Taking_Shelter_Terminal.pdf (format: PDF)" Cheers! https://scholarsbank.uoregon.edu/xmlui/handle/1794/29068

excellent work, Adeline! I just scrolled through it quickly. if you are ever in want of photos of shelters outside ONP boundaries, I have an envelope full of prints here somewhere of the Yahoo Lake shelter taken July 15 1995 right after it was recovered with new shakes. bk
