Ole Slug...pulling no punches.... embarassedlaugh.gif And here I thought I was so smart by addressing his "several times a day" issue. But I missed the "espresso" part, so it's just like I was never here.

The smart-alecky smirk that I wear when posting often doesn't come through very well in my posts, I'm afraid. embarassedlaugh.gif

Tried the Java Juice and just did not like the taste. Cofee packaged tea bag style has been the method of choice for awhile. Not the best pack weight solution maybe but has anybody tried these?... http://www.onefreshcup.com/anywhere.asp

Mike, the same item comes in extra-large size for the serious espresso junkie.

someone here on the forum tipped me to this method and i swear by it now. and yes, i'm a havetohavemycoffee kind of guy (recently converted to Toddy-only at home) go to an asian market and buy a bag of 3-in-1 coffee packets, they have the coffee, cream and sugar in the same packet (far less mess) - i get the mocha kind go to TJ's or some hippy outlet and get freeze dried coffee crystals. (TJ's is the best IMO) add the TJ's to the boiled water/pouch mixture to taste - you'll want it stronger than the pouch itself. i use 2 pouches, 3-4 spoonfulls of coffee crystals to a 20oz mug. strong, sweet, creamy virtually no mess.

For those who want to know more about the 3-1 packets they are made in Thailand and are sweetened coffee usually with coconut cream for the "milk" part. Good stuff. You can also find instant Thai Tea in the same packets.

I use those hotel coffee packs
Boil up a liter or so, toss in a pack & let it meditate for a while. You can get some pretty upscale coffee that way ( try a better brand of hotel, ok?) & the work is minimal.

Try Greek coffee! Practice at home.

Regular cone filter for me ... but coffee not espresso, like someone said. I've tried the beans straight, a bit rough on my gut.

Sarbar, do you have a link? I love Thai Tea, and have sworn off of java (for now wink.gif )

Grizzy, a good example is here. You can find a couple brands (some better as well) at http://www.uwajimaya.com/ but make sure you go to the Seattle store, not the Bellevue store. Also, Ranch 99 sells a number of brands at their stores.

I used those for my trips last year and really like them. I can get two cups of hot coffee from one packet.

Aeropress is where it is at. Light enough for backpacking, especially if sharing some gear with other(s). Grind good beans before trip. Morning nirvana. Great for kayak camping as well. I use it now at home as it does better espresso than moka pot. If want americano type just add some more hot water. Key to success, besides good beans, is water temp a bit short of boil. Easy cleanup. http://www.aerobie.com/Products/aeropress.htm http://www.amazon.com/AeroPress-Coffee-and-Espresso-Maker/dp/B000GXZ2GS/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1208308579&sr=8-1
