I love pop tarts (brown sugar cinnamon my favorite), but wonder how you keep them from getting crushed on the hike... Never took em on a hike. I guess you could put them in some kind of tupperware box maybe?
I slog down a lot of Gu energy gel on the move. Easy to just slip down while moving. I buy various flavors for variety but these go down pretty quick anyway with a swig of water.
I usually bring a power bar, a balance bar, and sometimes a protein bar, but usually don't eat them on the trip. Move like if I bonk/need something they are there. I will often down a balance bar in the car before starting on the hike. The balance bar is one bar I actually sort of like. Power bars are tolerable but that's about it.
I might eat a cliff bar if I was starving in a desert and someone gave me one with a big jug of water.
Once at the destination unless a shorter/after work type of hike I typically eat a ham/turkey sandwich, some chips and some kind of sweet snack and wash that down with a 32 oz bottle of gatorade.

My poptarts have always crumbled in the pack. I don't mind sucking the crumbs out of the packaging, though. They still taste good.
I thought I was the only one on the site who liked the brown sugar/cinnamon! Yea! I'm not alone!

Yea I guess a few crumbs doesn't hurt. Never really though about taking pop tarts until reading on here.. Will have to give it a try next hike for a change of pace.

My wife and I have been taking Advocare products for the past year now. There meal replacement bars are awesome and actually taste great too. They are on the spendy side but worth it for the quality.
Here is the link: https://www.advocare.com/07043052/Store/ItemDetail.aspx?itemCode=A3601&id=E
They also make a meal replacement shake that is great for breakfast on the trail!

Lots to consider here.
Even though they are obviously not food, I do love the frosted brown sugar cinnamon poptarts!
Clif Mojo? First time I've heard of them. Not terribly fond of similar bars I've had.
Land Jeager, cream cheese bagel, and a coke. Now that is powerful hiking food!

My favorite is the Mojo Peanut Butter & Chocolate, but sometimes all Clif-like things are just too heavy for me. Then I eat those Fiber One things that taste like candy bars.
