Turned this 18-mile loop in to a day-hike today, I was making good time and there was no need to pitch camp. I started out on Old Durr Road near the intersection with Roza Creek Road and slowly ascended to crest Umtanum Ridge. From here I headed east along the ridge following an old access road for 10 miles down to Roza Creek Road near Roza Creek. I took a right and followed this old road past Birdsong Tree back to my vehicle. Great time! up.gif Old Durr Road is passable to any passenger vehicle to at least the intersection with Roza Creek Road. One could likely make it to the ridge with a standard passenger vehicle but it would be tricky in spots. Roza Creek Road would only be passable to high-clearance four-wheel-drive vehicles (think SUV or larger).
