If any of you are headed across Route 2 this weekend (or later) and going through Tumwater Canyon, please try to get a look at Drury Falls.
Does it look like this?

Or more like this?

At this time of year, just a couple of weeks* can make all the difference between an ordinary stream and a stream swollen with snowmelt. ....... I want to try to get over there to catch the flood at something close to peak.
*As it happens, those two pics were taken just 12 days apart!!!

I just came through there Wednesday. It's definitely closer to the bigger one. That was after two days of pretty steady rain. I did not know it's name so it's pretty funny to see it pop up here a couple of days later.

If it's coming down that way, that's the way I'll photograph it.

Here's what it looked like from the top of Tumwater on Saturday afternoon (6/4), Scrooge.

Thanks, GO-Go. That's as good as I could hope for. It looks like about the same flow (or maybe slightly more) as in ARSpalding's pic. It's even got the same little pile of snow left on that ledge in the middle.
Given the forecast for a fairly cool week (up at 5000 feet, in Drury's drainage basin), I think I'm gonna guess that the runoff will be heavier week after this (and it will certainly be as good).
.................................................................
Does anybody know if the Wenatchee River ever reaches flood stage just from snowmelt? or does it take some sort of rain event to push it over its banks? ......... I was thinking that I could watch for NOAA flood warnings to let me gauge the flow, but I'm not sure that's true.

That's the one, soop! Not gonna get much closer than that. Thanks!
And DHM is right: that's a GREAT pic.
(I ran it through my Flickr account to fix the thumbnail problem).
Unfortunately, I can't get there today, and cooler weather the rest of the week will slow it down again. However, the 10 day forecast makes the beginning of next week look pretty good.

You have also done a good job of photo-documenting the upper pitches of an obscure rock climb called The Original Route (lll, 5.8) on the Waterfall Column formation that ascends the obvious corners and cracks to the lookers right of the falls.

Hey Scrooge, this should go in that one thread that has the comparison pics. I can't remember the name of it otherwise I would post a link but I am sure you know how to find it... This one is perfect for it.
