I'm trying to decide on a great multi day backpacking trip in the range of 30 miles or so. I plan on doing 10 miles a day 2 nights/3 days. I'd love to camp near some cool spots at the end of each day (lake, stream, viewpoint) I was thinking some combo of eagle creek and Wahtum lake. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Nothing technical, but strenuous is fine. Also, Mt. Hood area is preferable, but i'd be open to suggestions around the Clackamas River, Detroit Lake, Ripplebrook areas too. Probably at the end of July. Thanks in advance.

For just a bit for mileage the Timberline Trail (around Mt. Hood) is an option. I think it's in the 40 mile range. Not so much lakes, but lots of great views.

Be aware of the closing of the Elliot Creek crossing if you opt for all or part of the Timberline trail. Pretty much anything you find that includes part of that trail though will be very nice. Ruckel Ridge is my favorite Gorge hike (and you can connect it with the Eagle Creek trail), but IMO the best scenery to be found is as close to Mount Hood as possible. If by chance you can make it further south, the Three Sisters Wilderness is spectacular.

The Timberline Trail is open! Here's a just-posted trip report.

May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view.--E.Abbey

A little further south than your desired areas but the Three Sisters Wilderness offers a bunch of great loops with many incredibly scenic lakes.
