mostly digestive relief, which actually could be helpful on the trail but in women, menstrual flow promotion, also stimulates lactation. Usually not recommended for pregnant or might become pregnant women

I don't mind fennel seeds in things... seems like they are often in sausage and rye bread, but they always get stuck in my teeth. I cannot imagine just eating them.

they had a small bowl of them - dyed with food coloring - on the counter next to the cash register at Maharaja Restaurant over on California Ave. SW. there's a tiny spoon in the bowl so you can take a little scoop of them when you're paying the check on the way out. quite tasty little morsels! great palate cleanser too! wink.gif

Fennel seeds have a lot more benefits like it helps regulate blood pressure, reduce water retention, reduce asthma problems, it also increases strength and longevity and also good for the skin. I have read in this post that fennel seeds are also used to make detox broth, which helps to detoxify and reduce weight.

They are expensive in the supermarket, but I bought a good sized container of them at an Indian spice shop and market for about 3 bucks. Glad I figured that out; I put them in a lot of dishes; cabbage soup, roasts, herby biscuits, polenta, etc. So check out the ol' neighborhood Indian market for 'em!
