Belated trip report here, but too pretty not to share. The goal was Tye Peak, but unconsolidated snow from the storm the night before made travel a little tricky. Ended up spending an hour lounging in the sunshine up on the ridge. Ran into a number of NWHikers up there also taking advantage of the beautiful day. Good stuff cool.gif

I saw this report on WTA that Stevens was charging hikers 20 bucks a car for parking. Might be something to consider if you plan to do this hike on weekends and around holidays. http://www.wta.org/go-hiking/trip-reports/trip_report.2016-12-18.6165362067 From Stevens Pass website:
Quote:
Stevens Pass has more than 2700 parking spaces in our system of nine lots at the base of the mountain, plus our parking facilities at Yodelin and the Stevens Pass Nordic Center. Parking in our lots are free with the exception of the summit lot (Lot A) on the south side of Highway 2 and our new lot (Lot G) on the north side of Highway 2, located at the top of the walk ramp, with a cash only parking fee of $20 on Peak Days. If you carpool with 4 or more people, parking is free for the most convenient parking!
Schedule of peak days: https://www.stevenspass.com/site/passes/season-passes/16-17%20Peak%20-%20Off%20Peak%20Season%20Calendar.pdf

I would definitely avoid this snowshoe hike on the weekends and holidays. The parking lot was pretty full even on a random mid-week day.

Huh, thanks for sharing the parking info. I wasn't aware of this. I looked up the map to check the lots:
When I go there early on the day I park in C&D. It looks like those are still free. Of course, if you arrive late on the day, those will be full.

Beautiful pictures! We hope to get up there in the next couple weeks. smile.gif

You don't find yourself standing at the top of a mountain without having started out in the valley.
