A gyrfalcon with have many more thinner bands on the tail feathers. Gotta go with a Coopers Hawk for this sighting. https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Gyrfalcon/id |
Thanks! Coopers Hawk & Goshawk are my other guess's

You will see gyrfalcons in wide open spaces like tundra and alpine areas. They are after ptarmigan and small mammals. The Cooper’s hawk is much lighter than a gyrfalcon (1.2 lbs vs 3.2 lbs). The Cooper’s hawk can hunt for birds in the forested areas. While pursuing a bird it can drop its long tail like a drag-racer drops a parachute to slow down. The smaller bird is more agile and the heavier weight for a hunter means momentum wants it to keep going forward. A gyrfalcon is just too heavy to pursue birds in a forested setting. It can’t slow down fast enough. A goshawk is a good second guess. Can’t appreciate a white stripe over the eye and the video shows a bird with a long tail like a Cooper’s hawk.

More re bathing bird clip - might possibly be a merlin? It's so hard to tell from the clip.
*edit: I was referring to the clip on the previous page, not the owl clip. Sorry for the confusion. Both of these bird of prey captures are great.

Looks like a great horned owl from here.
