We set out for Teanaway and Iron about 8:00AM on Saturday May 24. Only two cars at the trailhead at the time. When we returned 5 hours later there were about 8. The trail is in good shape and snow started about 5200'. Nothing really to slow us down. We got a good laugh out of a guy carrying his large Husky across the first couple snow patches. That was the last we saw of them.
From the ridge the snow was reasonably firm and we stomped our way up Teanaway first following old tracks and setting our own as the first people of the day. It looked like a little new snow had fallen earlier in the week covering old tracks.
We had a quick break on the summit and slid down and walked over and tagged Iron. Lots more people starting up the trail on our decent. I'm glad we were early since the snow softened by noon.
Nice! I haven't been over there (yet) this year; good to see the snow conditions.
