Here are some Olympic historical items to check if interested: The Press party. They were the first to explore the interior of the mountains in 1889. John Turnow "Wild man of the Wynoochee" 1880 - 1912. John Huelsdonk, "Iron man of the Hoh", 1866 -1946. All of these came up on the internet. Don't know if exploits are in book form or not.

The press expedition is in book form. A friend lent it to me a few years ago and I really enjoyed it. ISBN: B0006BQG2O Across the Olympic Mountains: The Press Expedition, 1889-90 The challenges they faced are really hard to imagine. They tried to haul a boat with supplies up the Elwha - that gives you a sense for it - and this was a successful endeaver!
