I was looking around for some info on Loup Loup ski area and stumbled across this: https://vimeo.com/102181064. About 25 minutes.
This was done a few (5?) years back by IRIS (Initiative for Rural Innovation and Stewardship); they documented a lot of history of North central WA. This covers ski areas - from Squilchuck to Sitzmark. Including a couple that I knew little about - Entiat and Patterson Lake.
Great old photos and interviews - I have fond memories of pictures and voices I was privileged to know.
Thanks for posting this. Brought back fond memories of learning to ski at Squilchuck (long before Mission Ridge). A rope tow pass cost $1.25/day but there were days when my brothers and I didn't have any money so we climbed up the hill and skied down..once in awhile sneaking a ride on the rope tow. Ski gloves had to have a heavy leather patch on the palm to help grip the rope...without the patch if you let the rope slide through your hands it would wear a hole in the glove. I also skied at the Entiat Valley ski hill. It was a short hill but the lodge had really good chili. Wooden skis with cable bindings but never broke my leg!
